Fabulous Uses for Canning Jars

I love canning jars. They are simple and pretty and have an old-fashioned feel to them. So I use them for many things other than just canning.

Here are some ideas that I use all the time!

Canning - Obviously.

Storing Tea - As long as they're kept in a cupboard to shut out light, they are great for storing loose tea. Here's my tea cupboard.

Storing Food - I store a few items on top of a bookcase that I use for our dinnerware and a few foods we commonly use.

Flower Vases - They are beautiful for wild flowers or tulips, or any other kind of flower! They work well for dried flowers too. The older blue-tinted jars are even prettier for this. :)

Drinking Glasses - I have friends who use canning jars for all their drinking glasses! I recently realized that the big jars can hold a giant green smoothie for me in the mornings so I don't have to refill. Score!

Fermenting Kefir - We started fermenting kefir in our kitchen a few weeks ago. They are perfect for fermenting and don't look too horrid on the counter.

what good ideas you have. I use Moconna coffee jars for similar things.
    I love the herb planters.
