My husband has to work on Valentine's Day, but had this last Tuesday off. So we decided to celebrate Valentine's Day as a family and have a special "We Love Our Family" Day! (We were inspired by
this post at Power of Moms.)
My husband and I made a list of some fun, simple activities, trying to make sure that each family member's favorites were represented. We asked the kids what they like to do as well. Then I used a cardboard amazon book mailer to create a treasure map for our day.
I'm no Martha Stewart, as you can see, but the kids loved it. The inside had a heart shape for every activity with a clue written on it. They had to match the heart sticker to the shape. The back of each matching sticker had the activity on it.

Here's the activities we had:
- Big Red Heart: Intro info and "Go to Dutch Bro's" hehehe
- Little Hearts:
- Play with legos
- Race each other outside and play with bubbles
- Special Valentine's Day lunch
- Play Dance game on Wii
- Decorate cupcakes
- Group Hug
- Big pink heart: Take a family photo to remember the day

| Resigned to make them into "cake balls". Kids were thrilled ;) |
We also found time to let the kids make their own Valentines. At dinner, we had a large envelope (folded cardboard decorated with wrapping paper and hearts) that had love notes from my husband and I and Oma to each of the kids. We read them over dinner before taking our group picture.
Happy Valentine's Day!
