I am SO excited to introduce a new Bible Brick Challenge here at Proverbial Homemaker that I hope will bless you and your family this holiday season: The Christmas Story Brick Challenge!

The Christmas Story Brick Challenge includes build challenge prompts for 12 days leading up to Christmas. The build creations can vary in complexity depending on the age of your child – it all rests on their creativity to imagine the scene or object and re-create it from their Lego bin!
Each of the 12 days corresponds to a person or event in the Christmas story, and it all points to Jesus as our Savior. Here’s what you will find in the Christmas Brick Challenge:
- Challenge summary (12 build challenges)
- Fun Christmas story rhyme with a printable poster
- Christmas story challenge cards
- Christmas story drawing pages
- Memory verse with copywork
- Cut and paste nativity scene
- Coloring pages
Here’s how it works:
- Christmas Rhyme. Read through the Christmas story rhyme with your kids. There are 12 parts, each corresponding to a day in the challenge. Post the rhyme printable on your wall.
- Memory Verse. Post the memory verse poster on the wall and learn it as a family over the course of the challenge. Your kids can use the copywork page to help aid memorization.
- Daily Activities. Start 12 days before Christmas (or any day you wish!). Print the Christmas story challenge cards and go through one each day: Read the rhyme, read the scripture verses, and do the build challenge! Examples and models are intentionally left out because creativity and imagination in these build exercises solidifies the story in amazing ways!
- Additional Activities: Younger children (or any who are interested) can use the drawing pages to draw the scene/idea described in each part of the rhyme, color the simple but sweet Christmas coloring pages, and create a cute nativity scene with the cut and paste page.

I was wondering if you could give a couple examples of the Lego challenges – I was also looking at the Jesse Tree Lego challenge and I had the same question for that as well. I am intrigued by the challenge but I am unsure which I should purchase because I have no idea what the challenges are like. Thank you! 🙂
Hi Sonja! There are some examples in the image on this page of what’s included in the Christmas Lego Challenge. The challenges themselves are in a table that lists each day and a scene, person, or object from the Christmas story that the kids use their imaginations to create with Legos. The Jesse Tree Lego challenge includes a similar table with the challenge prompts and then a set of printable ornaments, each with a picture to inspire the day’s challenge and a Bible reading. Anywhere from pre-k and up. The coloring pages are for small children and the journal pages are more like 1st-3d grade. The challenges can apply to a wide range of ages. My oldest is in the 2nd grade and so his creations will be more complex than a kindergarteners but less so than a 4th graders – the challenge includes build prompts that can be as simple or complex as the child’s ability and imagination dictate. For example, the build challenge for the town of Bethlehem could be a simple building or two with a stable or it could be complex with several buildings, houses, a stable, farms, etc. For older kids you can look up images Bethlehem and try to re-create them, or create a map. I just downloaded the Christmas Story Lego Challenge, and am confused by one verse in the rhyme. I checked rhyme page, cards page, and copywork page, trying to figure out the typo myself, but still can’t sort out what “They sky’s many wonders of His glory sings” is supposed to mean.. Thanks in advance for clarifying!
Hi Nichole! I’m no poet, and I know it. Lol! 🙂 I was trying to say that the heavens declared His glory – wonders of the sky like the angels singing and the stars and moon, etc. It’s biblical, just not very poetical. I tried. Sorry! Actually taking another look at it the s on sings should probably be dropped to make it grammatically correct. The skies sing of His glory. I’ll go fix that and email you a copy.
