Jesse Tree Brick Challenge

If you’ve been around Proverbial Homemaker very long, you know that we LOVE the Jesse Tree tradition in our home during Christmas season! This year, we decided to try something a little different to shake things up. We’re doing a Jesse Tree Brick Challenge to work those imaginations, build skills, and burn the story into their little minds and hearts!

Jesse Tree BRICK Challenge - Using Legos to complete the Jesse Tree advent activity!

This is a fun twist on a Christ-centered tradition that is sure to delight your children. It starts December 1. Will you join us?

Jesse Tree Brick Challenge

  • Read the scripture for the day
  • Discuss how the story points to Jesus
  • Discuss the symbol and how it relates to the story
  • Hang the ornament on the tree
  • Complete the Build It task and/or the Extra Challenge Task(s) (these are building prompts and not detailed instructions)

Getting Started

  • Duplex document has the symbol and title on one side and the reading and brick challenges on the other side.
  • There is also a single-side option.
  • Print and laminate the set of your choice, punching a hole in the top for hanging on the tree.
  • You could also tape/glue the pieces onto a tree cut out from poster board.
  • Reading Plan
    • Includes the scripture readings and challenge prompts (you could use it with an existing ornament set/devotion).
    • Follows the one at the Reformed Church of America site. You can find a devotion there to accompany this plan.
    • Take pictures of your creations or save them in a big display as you go!

Thanks so much for linking up with us on the Hip Homeschool Hop! What a great Advent idea! My son used to love Legos, but I never would have thought to incorporate them into our Jesse Tree. I’m so glad you shared it with us.

  2. Tara

I have the hand of death sometimes on a computer. Why am I not receiving an email for the lego Jesse Tree?

    1. Tauna

      Hi Tara!

Sorry about that. Sometimes the email goes to the spam folder, so make sure to check there. If it’s not there, try entering your email address one more time to get a new one sent. If it doesn’t work, I can email them to you at the address you used for this comment. Thanks!

would you be able to email it directly to me?

  15. Shannon

I was so excited to see this! My son is going to love doing legos instead of coloring! I’m also having problems finding the automatic download email… Would you mind sending me a link/file.

      1. Gretchen Garrison

Can the links still be found in the article? I am trying to get organized, so that we can start advent after Christmas. Thanks!

  16. Susanne

Thank you so much for creating and sharing this! Lego is the language of my 10 year old son. Looking forward to sharing these with the kids and praying it opens their hearts further to the true message of Christmas. Blessings!

  17. Naomi

Do you have any pictures of this project – either completed or in progress?? I am such a visual person, I don’t really get how we are supposed to do this just from the description. Thanks!!!

    1. Tauna

Not yet! 🙂 you just need to use the images on the ornaments to spark the imagination! The building challenges are for the kids to be creative and come up with a “snake” or “ark” or whatever it is based on the blocks they have and their creativity.

  18. Melissa

This is really neat… we’re a couple days into it and having such sweet as well as many fun moments as a family. A fellow homeschooler sent me the link to your blog and I’m grateful she did. Thanks for putting this together and sharing 🙂 ~Melissa

  19. Marnie

I am not seeing the email to print off the LEGO challenge. It said that it went through yesterday, and I have checked my spam. Could you help me out? Thanks! We are looking forward to doing this together.

    1. Tauna

On 11/28 I removed the email form and put direct links in the post. Feel free to download them there! 🙂 Just scroll toward the bottom and find the note I put in red text. The download links are below that.

  20. Megan Peter

    Hi Tauna,
Thank you so much for very generously sharing your hard work. I appreciated finding your site very much. I have successfully downloaded a couple of items and would like to request a download for the Lego Jesse Tree Plans but cannot find a way to do so. Could you please let me know how to proceed? Thank you!
    Kind regards,
    Megan

    1. Tauna
