Tomorrow is Maundy Thursday. I thought I’d share with you this great activity a mom from our co-op had the little ones do earlier in the year for the story of Jesus washing the disciple’s feet. It is easy, low prep, low cleanup, and doesn’t involve water. 😉 You could use it in addition to or instead of a family foot washing activity tomorrow!
Materials needed (all available at the dollar store):
– foam door hangers
– foam/paper hearts
– foam/paper crosses
– construction paper
Read the story of Jesus washing the disciple’s feet from the children’s Bible or your own. Jesus served his disciples and teaches us to serve each other and put other’s needs above our own. Talk about ways we can do that in our own lives.
Outline each child’s foot on construction paper and cut them out. Have them glue the outline, a cross, and a heart onto a door hanger. Write “Love each another” on the door hanger. As you’re doing all this together, talk about how Jesus made the greatest sacrifice, with us in mind, on the cross.
My kids LOVED this activity and still talk about it when they see their door hangers!
