Refreshing & Healthy Smoothie Recipes

I can’t just throw together a yummy tasting green smoothie without a recipe to follow. And I’ve downed some seriously yucky smoothies before figuring this out!

But THESE smoothies are wonderful. Refreshing, healthy, and they taste fantastic!

I love these kinds of smoothies because they are a break from the typical milk/dairy-based berry smoothies and they give me this crazy clean rush of energy afterward!

Beets and Greens Smoothie
(Adapted from here.)

  • 1 red beet
  • 1 small apple
  • 1/2 peeled orange
  • 1/2 cup frozen grapes
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple pieces
  • 1 cup beet greens (or chard, kale, or spinach)
  • 2 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • Cold water filled up to 1 inch below ingredients in blender

Blend all ingredients and enjoy! The color is beautiful and it has the perfect sweetness.

Grapefruit Cleansing Smoothie
(Adapted from here.)

  • 1 peeled grapefruit
  • 1/2 apple
  • 1 large handful Italian flatleaf parsley (or other greens)
  • 1 small handful mint leaves (I had orange mint)
  • Cold water filled up to 1 inch below ingredients in blender

Blend all ingredients and enjoy! The combination and especially the mint is really refreshing and invigorating.

Do you have any great fruit or veggie blends you recommend?
