Praying for Humility – Scripture About Having Humble Hearts
To have biblical humility is to be someone who has a heart attitude that is meek and humble, rather than full of pride. Jesus described it as being “poor in spirit,” or being fully aware of our true state apart from Christ and our absolute need for Him. Praying for humility is something we should do for ourselves and our spouse and children. It is essential to our Christian walk!
Only with humility can we recognize our state as sinners and our need of a savior. Only with humility can we submit ourselves to Christ, and recieves His forgiveness and salvation. Humility is necessary in repentance from sin and receiving God’s grace. It is critical in the daily work of relationships and service. We NEED humility!

Will you join me in praying for humility in our families?
We want our children (and ourselves) to be full of the humility of Christ. What might that look like?
- Recognizing that we need Jesus every single day
- Putting the needs of others above our own
- Being willing to admit when we mess up
- Quick to apologize and ready to forgive
- Keeping our eyes on Jesus instead of ourselves
If your home is full of bickering, strife, and harshness (we’ve all been there), then laying a foundation of biblical humility is key. It can start with some lessons from Scripture, teaching your children about the example that Jesus set for us in humility and being determined to learn from Him together as a family. We can’t do it on our own strength! We need to turn to God and ask for the help of the Holy Spirit – that is one of the most precious things we can model for our children. Because there are no perfect parents–only a perfect Savior!
